A man is facing a maximum $2000 fine after offering to wash windscreens at a local intersection.
The 46-year-old from Strathfield was offering his services at the intersection of Castlereagh Road and the Great Western Highway about 6.30pm on Saturday, January 23, a police spokesman said.
Motorists alerted police to the man and officers attended the scene.
“This is an offence in NSW under the Road Rules 2014 section 236,” the spokesman said.
“Pedesrians can’t cause a traffic hazard or obstruction.”
The offence carries a maximum 20 penalty units, equivalent to a$2000 fine, the spokesman said.
The man was charged with being apedestrian standing on a road and washing, or offering to wash, windscreens.
He was granted bail to appear before Penrith Local Court on February 29.
