Off to kindy: Cousins Hudson Mulroney and James Gillooly are thrilled to start kindergarten at the same time. Picture: Isabella LettiniIt’s double the excitement for the Mulroney siblings as their two kids get ready to leap into the great big world of “big school” next week.

West Pennant Hills resident Melissa Gillooly (nee Mulroney) is sharing the occasion with her brother Damien Mulroney, of Marayong, as their children begin kindergarten at the same time.

“It’s really nice that our kids are going through this together,” she said.

“Suzie [sister-in-law] and I have been talking and sharing tips for lunch boxes,” she said.

“I can’t wait for my son James to join his big brother Will at big school.

“James told me he wants to learn to read and write like his big brother on the first day.

“You sort of feel like the baby days are over,” Mrs Gillooly said.

Her son James is going to St Agatha’s Catholic Primary School, while cousin Hudson Mulroney is attending St Andrew’s Primary School.

Hudson’s mother, Suzie Mulroney, said it’s good to be able to talk to her family about it and share the experience.

“It will be a bit of a sad moment but it’s nice that we can call each other and comfort each other,” she said.

“I’m very excited for Hudson and for what he will get out of school.”
