It didn’t take Blake Riciutto and Peter Makrillos long to endear themselves to Rockdale City fans.
The Suns won the Maso Cup in Wollongong last weekend with goals from the pair giving Rockdale City a 2-0win over hostclub Wollongong Unitedin the final.
It was the second year in a row Rockdale have lifted the pre-season trophy.
The annual tournament saw teams from Victoria, Queensland, Newcastle, the ACT, Illawarra and Sydney take part withopen, over-35s and women’s matches.
Rockdale finished on top of their group in the main competition and went on to down Victorian club Sydenham Park 2-1 in the semi-final.
The Suns went on to lift the trophy with an impressive 2-0 win over the Illawarra Premier League champions.
Another new signing,Alec Canak, also made his Suns debut in the tournament.
Rockdale will continue their build up towards the new NPL1 men’s season with trials in the next few weeks.
In the over-35s, a Rockdale team including former players Bill Pilovski, Pece Apolevski and Alex Kotevich went down in the semi-finals in a penalty shootout.
The Maso Cup will return to Sydney next year before heading to Melbourne in 2018.
